CCPS Manager - telecommute potential
The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), founded in 1908, is a professional association of more than 40,000 chemical engineers worldwide. AIChE fosters and disseminates chemical engineering knowledge, supports the professional and personal growth of its members, and applies the expertise of its members to address societal needs and improve the quality of life. Among its many initiatives is the is the Center for Process Safety, formed in 1985 to help manufacturers avoid catastrophic fires, explosions, and toxic releases through the development of guidelines, training, conferences, and networking.
We are currently seeking a Manager to enhance this effort. In this position, you will provide technical support and project management services for CCPS and outreach to prospective members and the global manufacturing community at large, while working closely with the CCPS Director and other team members to implement strategies to meet organizational goals.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chemical engineer to have an important impact on the global practice of process safety, while growing professionally. In this position, there is flexible opportunity to work in our main office in New York City, our satellite office in Connecticut, or telecommute from a convenient North American location.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in an aggressive campaign to attract new sponsors for CCPS; identify candidates; call, visit and follow-up over an extended period of time.
- Assure that the needs of the existing sponsors are met, including providing limited technical support; work with Director and other team members to identify sponsor relationships in need of attention.
- Serve as CCPS Blogger and webmaster and provide oversight to the CCPS dynamic web community.
- Oversee execution of projects in technical portfolio. Ensure that staff consultants have resources needed, that projects are sufficiently funded, properly conceived, well executed, on schedule and on budget, and that all project contracting policies are followed.
- Along with CCPS Director, represent CCPS and AIChE with government organizations, other associations and the press.
- Oversee, develop, and enhance the CCPS course catalog and AIChE ventures related to process safety training.
- Conduct in-house sales of key products.
- Additional support for other AIChE efforts as required.
Qualifications:
- BS in Chemical Engineering or related discipline required.
- Relevant industrial or consulting experience of 10 years or more, including demonstrated expertise in the technical, management, and regulatory aspects of process safety.
- Experience in project management, budgeting and cost control.
- Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills; negotiating skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Cultural sensitivity required.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency of computer tools, including experience with Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Word and web productivity tools.
