Ceramics Engineering

We are currently seeking candidates with experience in ceramics manufacturing.  These roles requires direct hands on experience in the manufacture of ceramic materials and substrates. These roles will support a major new Dow initiative into the Diesel Particulate Filter market. This role can be located in Midland, Michigan (USA) or Schkopau, Germany and will require extensive travel for the next 3-5 years  In coordination with the plant leadership, plant personnel and the Technology Center, these persons will be providing process technical & operational support for the design and manufacture of diesel particulate filters.   Key Responsibilities will include:1.  Participate as the ceramics technical representative on the Capital Project Teams that will design, build and start-up these plants.2.  Provide start-up and long term technology support for the new plants.3.  Optimize plant operations and implement best practices.  Help identify gaps / deficiencies in technology. 4.  Maintain, track and improve key plant metrics in support of meeting business goals.5.  Documents / communicates technology knowledge (supports technology implementation).  A minimum of a Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering (Ceramics, Chemical, Materials or Mechanical) Willing to travel in United States and Europe approximately 1-2 weeks per month for the next 1-2 years Preferences: 5-10 years of hands on experience in the manufacture of ceramic materials and substrates Experience with invention or implementation of new technologies Six Sigma certification Experience leading and/or implementing Environmental, Health and Safety intiatives *Home base location can be Midland, Michigan USA or Schkopau, Germany.   The successful candidates should demonstrate the following competencies:  Technology Capabilities:  Have strong operational knowledge of ceramics manufacturing .  Requires providing ceramics manufacturing expertise to the project and operations teams.  Teamwork/Interpersonal Effectiveness:  The successful candidate must be able to effectively interact with cross functional project team members.
