Chemist- Oil Field

We currently have an opening for a Chemist- EP&SF (Emulsion Polymerization & Specialty Foamers) at the Winder, GA production facility.   The primary responsibility of this position is to independently perform tests, projects and assignments following established procedures and project plans for the oil field product development laboratory. The incumbent will draw conclusions based on experimental work and offer solutions to ensure a project's success. The successful candidate will enhance projects and assignments with their technical knowledge and experience. This role may be involved in cross-functional projects on an as assigned basis.Key components of this position include participation in the department workgroup, and the contribution of ideas and suggestions for improving department work processes.  The incumbent actively participates in safety/waste programs and steadfastly adheres to safety policies and standards. The chemist must keep an organized, up-to-date laboratory notebook and maintain database records. Good interpersonal skills are necessary to communicate project results to the chemist's supervisor, project requestor, and other internal and external customers. The chemist is also responsible for ordering supplies and chemicals as needed. The ability to build both internal and external customer relationships through regular communication is an essential trait of the successful candiate; travel to customers and other Stepan locations is estimated at 10-20%. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemistry or a related field and 0-5 years of experience in a laboratory environment.  Industry experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.  Candidates must demonstrate an ability to foster teamwork and solve problems.
