Director, Corporate Development

Codexis is a leading developer of proprietary biocatalysts that the company believes has the potential to revolutionize chemistry-based manufacturing processes across a variety of industries.

The company has used its technology platform to enable biocatalyst-based commercial-scale

drug manufacturing processes and delivered biocatalysts and drug products to some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies. Codexis has a funded collaboration in the biofuels market, and the company is pursuing funded collaborations in several other bioindustrial markets,

including carbon management, water treatment and chemicals.

 

Responsibilities

· Assist in the identification and assessment of potential business opportunities and collaborations through market research, business intelligence, and competitive and scientific analysis.

· Manage in-licensing of technology from corporations, universities, government entities and non-profit institutions, including negotiation of terms and overseeing relevant contractual agreements to completion.

· The successful candidate will be part of a team involved in establishing complex, multi-year collaborations with key strategic partners.

· In collaboration with Codexis colleagues, identify, evaluate and complete strategic acquisitions.

 

Requirements

· Team-oriented and able to interact effectively and influence people at all levels within and outside of Codexis.

· Advanced degree in a life sciences field, preferably chemistry.  MBA and/or JD preferred.

· Minimum five years’ successful track record with a relevant company, including at least three years of transacting “deals.”

· Experience drafting and negotiating life science technology agreements.

· Solid understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotech and/or biofuels contracts, intellectual property and patents.

· Proven ability to get deals done.

· Creative problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Strong organizational, communication and time management capabilities.

· Demonstrated ability to balance legal risks and business goals.

· High comfort level using MS Office.

 

This position will report directly to the VP of Corporate Development and will act as a valuable resource to the Company.
