Director, Quality Assurance EMD Chemicals Inc., an affiliate of Merck KGaA, Germany and a leading manufacturer of Analytical Reagents, Biosciences and Specialty Chemicals, currently has an excellent career opportunity for a Director, Quality Assurance to join our growing corporate headquarters located in Gibbstown, NJ.  Director, Quality Assurance Initiates, plans, and develops processes and projects to define and implement quality assurance policies and practices within EMD's facilities and manufacturing operations in accord with Merck KGaA corporate QA policies, standards and guidelines that ensure internal and external compliance and the promotion of quality practices that meet or exceed required guidelines and regulatory requirements.  Ensures overall quality control of processes, raw materials and products in line with regulatory and industry standards, including ISO9000, RC14000, cGMP and GLP.   ResponsibilitiesEnsures development of quality procedures and standards, certifying technological processes and procedures, qualifying products and supervising tests.Coordinates with manufacturing and other internal departments to define and resolve product quality problems. Plans and leads/coordinates quality related projects. Leads the development and provision of quality promotions and training to staff.Ensures issuing of technical documentation for customers, aimed at certifying organization's products' reliability, safety and guarantee. Leads the negotiation of quality standards with customers. Ensures development, regular review and effectiveness of processes to audit suppliers. Leads the settlement of any formal disputes, usually in close collaboration with the purchasing department. Ensures working practices conform to regulatory requirements in order to support registration, product development and manufacture. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Requirements10+ Years, familiarity with ISO9000, RC14001, cGMP, GLP, IPEC standards, chemical or pharmaceutical industry experience.  Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate audit and inspection observations, thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise and appropriate manner both within and outside the dept. and in group settings, with regulatory agency inspectors, customers, vendors, and other sites. Strong leadership skills. Proficient in multiple computer applications, including Word, Excel, and various databases. Experience and/or training in Root Cause Analysis. Working knowledge of domestic and international regulatory compliance requirements. Demonstrated mastery in at least one compliance area (ex. GLP, GMP, etc). Travel required as necessary.
