Director of Sales & Marketing
Summary: Sales & Marketing Director for Flex Products will report to the General Manager of Flex Products division of JDSU and lead the commercial team to meet or exceed revenue and profit growth objectives in Plan. The incumbent will play an instrumental role in formulating and executing strategic initiatives to maintain position as premier innovator and supplier of overt security for Currency market and grow position in non-Currency segments by leveraging core optical interference and diffractive technological and operational capabilities in providing brand and product differentiation for target customers. Member of the Flex Products Enterprise Team (senior staff).Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Lead sales activities including recruitment and training of sales representatives, distributors and agents, forecasting and budgeting, account development and management, contract negotiation and monitoring. a) Manage the group to identify, qualify and close sales opportunities by working effectively with the customer and internal functions.b) Grow and retain existing accounts by matching customer business needs with Flex Products division's capabilities and solutionsc) Monitor on-going customer satisfaction.d) Establish and monitor sales metrics including, but not limited to: revenue forecasts and revenue, account status reports, new business opportunities, market intelligence, and expense control.2. Provide marketing and pricing leadership/direction that ensures thorough understanding and demonstrated application of market segmentation techniques, customer value drivers, establishment and promotion of value propositions, implementation of disciplined, consistent pricing plans and the attainment of accurate/timely data on market trends/competitive strategies. 3. Complete detailed analysis of Flexs position within the marketplace and demonstrate how strategies to be implemented will drive that position consistent with Long Range Plan (LRP) objectives.4. Establish criteria for R&D/Technical departments to guide new product development, rejuvenations and derivatives. Manage product applications laboratory. Ensure that the Product Development portfolio is complete, relevant, and focused on key Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and LRP objectives.5. Develop and direct marketing activities for new products, including pricing, product positioning, marketing communications, branding/naming and sales training.6. Direct marketing communications activities including customer presentations, advertising, trade shows, articles, literature, and promotional activities.7. Develop thorough understanding of customer requirements by forming and maintaining productive relationships with key customer decision makers, including C-level executives, advanced product development directors and influential color styling associates.8. Assist in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitor expenditures.9. Direct and manage all functions in compliance with JDSU business practices and objectives, including Employment Policies, Safety, Health, and Environment Practices, Protection of Confidential and Proprietary Information, Code of Business Conduct, Ethics.QualificationsMinimum of 10 years experience in a senior sales, marketing or other commercial role with minimum of 5 years in leadership position and proven track record of sales & marketing achievements and people management. Areas of sales expertise should include technical solutions provider, multi-market exposure and "C-level" sales success, with Flex industry experience highly preferred. Minimum of a technical or business bachelor degree with an MBA preferred. Experience in managing across country boundaries. Foreign language skills a plus.Ability to create a vision, lead a large team and interface effectively with technical and manufacturing management. Strong technical ability, excellent communication skills, very strong negotiating and management skills. Proven ability to manage both inside and outside sales teams. Demonstrated experience in developing and managing creative sales programs to drive growth. Currently possesses relationships with key decision makers at leading fortune 500 companies. Strong leadership, team building, organization and planning skills required. Key Success Factors and Behaviors:1. Gain and refresh product knowledge of the Flex Products division's portfolio2. Current Flex Product markets served include: special effect pigments (paint & plastics), film products (roll to roll), and some limited commercial labels.4.
