Through more than 350 acquisitions and internal growth, Airgas has built the largest national distribution network in the packaged gas industry. More than 13,000 employees work in more than 1,000 locations includes branches, cylinder fill plants, production facilities, specialty gas laboratories, and regional distribution centers to serve a diversified customer base. Airgas markets through multiple channels, including its own branches and outside sales force, a Strategic Accounts Team focused on large customers, distributors and resellers, telesales, catalog and eBusiness channels. SUMMARY:  Supervises and coordinates activities of Bulk and Interbranch Drivers engaged in transporting gases, equipment, and supplies to customers via route trucks.  Oversees moving of cylinders and product with the use of forklifts, hand and cylinder carts.  By performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: · Responsible for personal safety and health.· Ensures a safe and healthy work environment.· Conduct and document monthly Safety meetings.· Comply with regulatory agency requirements, i.e. DOT, EPA, OSHA, FDA, et al.· Supervise personnel and provide ongoing training.· Inputs computer orders by truck route.· Ensures all high pressure, acetylene, and liquid cylinders are moved with CARTS ONLY.· Hires new employees for departmental requirements.· Takes disciplinary action when required.· Conducts performance appraisal interviews.· Trains subordinates on company policies and procedures.· Ensures products are accurately and in a timely manner delivered to customers.· Required to participate in random drug testing.· Must maintain current CDL.· Maintain driver efficiency levels.· Document vehicle maintenance records.· Follow preventative maintenance schedules.· Responsible for all vehicle distribution, including centralized branch distribution.· Initiates cost controls and promote cost reduction.· Responsible for the shipping and receiving of all cylinders from and to the dock.· Conduct monthly safety inspections for DOT and OSHA compliance.· Assists with store counter sales as required.· Interface with other departments.· Perform all other duties as required.Other Duties as Required:  This job description should not be construed to imply that these requirements are the exclusive standards of this position.  Incumbents are expected to follow any other reasonable instructions, and perform any other related duties, as may be required by their supervisor. Performance of this job in a safe manner and in keeping with established Airgas policies is a condition of employment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: · Vehicles:ü Determines most efficient routings; implement and maintain computerized routing system.ü Recommend means to improve performanceü Ensures vehicles are in good / safe operating condition, schedule service repairs as required, and maintain service records.· Customers:ü Interpret customer orders and assign duties.ü Project and insist upon customer satisfaction· Internal:ü Confer with other departments to coordinate flow of gas products.ü Adjust delivery procedures to meet production schedules.ü Analyze and resolve work problems.ü Perform activities of drivers supervised. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · Ability to perform very heavy work – routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.· Ability to perform work during prolonged standing up to 8 hours; frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motion also required.· Ability to perform work during occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling and finger activities.· Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).· Must be able to safely drive a forklift. Education and / or Experience: Minimum - High school graduate or GED equivalent plus five (5) years industry experience.Prefer Associates or Bachelors Degree plus five (5) years industry experience. Language Skills:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of the Company. Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work during prolonged standing, frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and feeling.  The employee is required to reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical office machine parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
