Electrical Technician

The journey-level technician is expected to act independently with a minimum of direct supervision and capable of training and supervising less experienced technicians. Responsibilities include a variety of tasks involved in troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing electrical/electronic equipment utilized on a pipeline system. Technicians are expected to respond to call-outs and frequent travel is required. Must be willing to work overtime and carry a cell phone. Must also be willing to perform additional duties due to operational upsets, construction projects, emergencies, and unusual situations, as well as other tasks assigned by management. Perform selection and installation of transformer banks and associated equipment for electrically operated facilities. Knowledge of and the ability to utilize National Electric Code, local codes, O.S.H.A., D.O.T., and regulations of other federal and state agencies as required by geographical locations. Perform required inspections and repair of equipment and facilities to meet these requirements. Responsible for completing the required paper work in a timely, neat and consistent manner. Install, repair, construct, and maintain power lines and install and revise communication equipment. Prepare budget item recommendations and cost estimates. Learn proper techniques and procedures to achieve proficiency and develop the skills to progress to the next level. Train and supervise less experienced Electrical/Electronic Technicians and contractors.



Associate's or Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronics discipline, or a minimum of 4 years previous related work experience and related training in discipline. Familiarity with the use of hand tools/instruments necessary to perform electrical/electronic maintenance. Able to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner. Must pass the appropriate tests. Strong PLC skills.
