Our broad objectives center on the continual development and improvement of petroleum refining, petrochemical, gas production, energy and chemical production technology. Job/Departmental Summary: There is an immediate opening for a Technical Specialist in the Project Technology Group within the Hydroprocessing Process Technology and Equipment business unit.  This position is one of four Hydroprocesssing Technology Specialists providing technical sales support for sale and licensing of new and revamped hydrocracking, hydrotreating and heavy oil processing units. We are part of a 40+ member Projects Technology Group which provides design concepts and licensing support to UOP’s customers. The Technology Specialist is recognized as a leader in the technology field combining a high level and broad scope of hydroprocessing capabilities and knowledge.  Key success factors in this position include:Ability to tailor UOP’s technical offering in the form of optimized yield estimates for UOP’s Unicracking Technology. Ability to assimilate pilot plant data, commercial data and new catalyst performance data for use in unique process flow schemes related to UOP’s Unicracking Technology. Ability to interact with UOP’s technical sales team providing process (both flow scheme and catalyst selection) information during formal customer meetings. Critically review guarantee positions and advise the business on strategy for winning new licensing events.  .Accountabilities of this position include: Develop new and revamp unit yield estimates Maintain technical knowledge base for hydroprocessing technology through community of practice association. May write/coordinate technical proposals for single and multi-unit complexes for both revamps and new units.  Work with Sales to develop technical proposals, presentations, initial and subsequent drafts of the engineering and guarantee agreements, ITB review, technical support, guarantee calculations. May take lead role at customer meetings for bid clarifications related to process flow and catalyst selections, technology updates and technical proposal review. Facilitate the transition of projects from sales to engineering through the process design phase  Develop technically innovative solutions to sales opportunities both for revamp & new unit situations. Advise Sales how to respond to client requests with less work-intensive products that meet customer requirements through the various stages of the sales process. Provide feedback to appropriate parties at UOP regarding design weaknesses and strengths, catalytic issues, sales opportunities and competitive intelligence.  Provide input to UOP’s Customer Contact Management (CCM) sales tool on available customer information covering process unit details, contacts, competitive information and sales strategies.  Meet commitments of quality and schedule for all assignments.The successful candidate will meet the following requirements: BS degree in chemical engineering 10+ years experience with majority in process technology (development, sales, design and service) Experience in the hydroprocessing and heavy oils Additional Qualifications: Close coordination with both external customers and a number of internal UOP groups and disciplines including Sales, Development.
