The successful candidate will develop new process technology and catalysts for heavy oil and bitumen conversion and will work with other Senior Refining Technologists in the development of new projects.  The incumbent will take a leading role in selected projects.  Accountabilities of this position include but are not limited to:Provide technical support of heavy oil conversion technologies, including accountability for heavy oil conversion experiments and other new technologies in the early stages of development, performed in the UOP pilot plants. Lead or contribute as a member of new technology delivery teams for internal development projects and collaborations with external companies. These projects are of varied complexity, including continuous improvement of UOP’s knowledge base on the fundamentals of heavy oil processing technology such as process configuration, reactor design, catalyst formulation, and reaction kinetics. Plan, champion and deliver assigned programs on budget, on time and within the constraints of agreed scope and resources. Act as technical contact for UOP Marketing and Sales in technology areas of expertise by providing commercial sales support for customer presentations, design and operating requirements, and technical papers. Manage the technical knowledge base for technology areas of expertise, including the development of work processes and guidelines to facilitate knowledge management and control. Evaluate and integrate developments in other technology areas for applications in heavy oil conversion. Monitor industry changes in assigned technology area for either opportunities or threats. Evaluate technical feasibility of proposed projects to improve UOP’s competitive position and provide recommendations for future projects in assigned technology areas. The successful candidate will meet the following requirements: Basic Qualifications:BS degree in Chemical Engineering; 10 years minimum of research and development experience in oil refining mandatory/emphasis in heavy oil conversion or Hydroprocessing preferred US employment authorization required Self-starting and demonstrated leadership aptitude is important Additional Qualifications: Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering preferred 5 years minimum of experience in heavy oil conversion process development preferredExperience in or in-depth knowledge of refinery operation and industrial heavy oil conversion applications is desirable.
