The Intermediates business within INVISTA produces chemical intermediates for the manufacture of nylon and spandex (Terathane), a range of specialty chemicals (DBE. We are currently seeking an ambitious, talented Engineering Polymers R&D Manager to join the Intermediates Research and Development Group based in Chattanooga,TN. Responsibilities:* Create and lead Research & Development programs that maximize and grow Profits, Return on Capital Consumed, and the Net Present Value (NPV) of the business. *Be an advocate for Innovation (Product, Product Application, Process) as a key strategy for the success of the Engineering Thermoplastics (ETP) Business. *Lead the ETP Research & Development Team to identify, develop, and commercialize new technology platforms that will have a significant impact on the global business. Qualifications: *Experience in a manufacturing environment with engineering thermoplastics, polymers, and/or other related industries. * Experience in sales and/or marketing or technical marketing of a technically based product (i.e. engineering polymer, Specialty Chemicals etc.). * Experience with economic tools to asses Research & Development initiatives, e.g. Net Present Value (NPV), Option Values, Risk Adjusted NPV, Discounted PV & Costs, etc.. *Experience managing a Research & Development Function. *A proven track record of working with customers to; identify new product opportunities and successfully work with the entire value chain to introduce and commercial new products. *Successful track record translating technology into practical solutions.*Demonstrated experience working in a matrix Research & Development and Business environment.*Demonstrated experience to tie Research & Development initiatives to the bottom line and their contribution to a businesss growth. *At least a Bachelors Degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related fields.EDUCATION PREFERRED: Advanced degree (i.e. PhD) and/or significant experience Polymer Science, and/or Chemistry, Chemical Engineering.We are an equal opportunity employer.
