Relocation will not be provided for this position. Local candidates are preferred.
The Field Specialist (FS) 1 will play a significant role in the operation, maintenance and repair of pipeline equipment within the US Pipelines and Logistics Business Unit.
Accountabilities Include:Follow all HSSE, operational and maintenance practices and procedures.Maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment as assigned.Verify satellite system signal strength and Arcom Director status.Conduct and document DOT equipment inspections and meet all DOT requirements, including Operator Qualifications.Utilize Maximo, Microsoft Office and other applications.Complete damage prevention as required.Maintain and repair electrical switchgear, pumps, motors, centrifugal and gear pumping equipment.Verify instrumentation loop circuits.Maintain and repair electronic-control valves, electrical valve actuators and mechanical valves. Install and maintain multiple pieces of equipment associated with petroleum liquids and/or gas terminals and pipelines.Participate in Emergency Response training, including Hazwoper, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, respiratory and other training as required.Drives a pick-up truck or similar vehicle on and off-road to multiple locations along the pipeline.Complete all training and qualification requirements within the stated timeframes of the BP Pipelines Field Specialist Training Program.
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of FS 1 applicants must have:Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.Strong Electrical and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and/or pump and motor repair experience.The ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license and clear driving record.Proficient general computer skills.Proficient software application skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.Strong self-motivation and the ability to be accountable for achieving long-term and day-to-day goals and tasks.Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.Strong organization, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels, both internally and externally.The ability to work independently without direct supervision.Strong problem solving skills with the ability to overcome obstacles and make good decisions.The ability to work effectively on diverse teams.The ability to read maps, alignment sheets, construction drawings and distinguish colors.The ability to routinely wear personal protective equipment as needed, but not limited to, eye/face protection, flame retardant clothing, foot protection, gloves, hearing protection and head protection.The willingness and ability to work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as necessary and be subject to call-outs, including response to emergency situations.The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.The willingness and ability to relocate to, or commute on a daily basis to Niota, Illinois without company assistance.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:A minimum of a 2-year technical degree in an Electrical, Electronics and/or Instrumentation discipline.Proficient pipeline communications and measurement equipment experience.Pipeline or other petroleum industry experience.Proficient high voltage equipment experience.Manufacturer's training in PLC.DOT Operator Qualifications certification.Emergency response training including Hazwoper, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and respiratory.
