Formulations Chemist/Engineer

In business for over a decade and leader in Scientific and Engineering Staffing, S&S Professional Services provides a wide variety of staffing solutions to companies in the greater Houston area is recruiting for an Formulations Chemist/Engineer.

Our client located in Clear Lake, is looking for a candidate who can wear many hats.  This position is responsible for leading coatings technical service projects to evaluate new polymers, formulations, or blends, as well as identify new applications for new or existing products using input from customers or marketing.  The successful candidate will collaborate with R&D (synthesis) group to develop, test, and evaluate new products as well as provide coatings technical service and expertise with emulsions to solve customer related application problems.  The position will require frequent participation in customer meetings, providing pre-and post-sales customer support, and coordination and execution of specific tasks in support of customers. 

**20-40% travel may be required.

Additionally, the candidate will prepare technical reports and presentations for sales and marketing, prepare capital proposals and project budgets as required, facilitate acquisition and installation of new laboratory and developmental equipment in support of new product development projects, and lead process or product improvement projects to improve productivity and performance of existing products.

Education Required: B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Physics

***The ideal candidate will have experience in formulating low VOC Coatings, and experience in Interior and/or Exterior Architectural Coatings

Prefer 10+ years experience but will consider 5 yrs experience, but must be in Architectural Formulation (beyond compounding and batch making).
