Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager Danville, VA Provide HSE leadership through the development, supervision, and execution of environmental management systems for insuring compliance with HSE regulatory requirements and continuous improvement of HSE performance. 1. Inform and update the President with regard to existing or potential issues and regulatory requirements impacting HSE performance. 2. Ensure that provisions of the Environmental Management System are established, maintained, and implemented in accordance with ISO 14001 Standards. 3. Maintain current and supervise and participate in the preparation of HSE  procedures, manuals, audits, and reports. 4. Prepare environmental permit applications. 5. Maintain a current regulatory calendar, and ensure the timely preparation of required reports. 6. Oversee and direct hazardous and specialty waste management system to insure timely disposal at permitted waste disposal facilities, and submittal of waste disposal information to the Accounting Department. 7. Establish operating budget for the HSE Department. 8. Propose capital improvement projects as needed to improve HSE performance, and assist with project execution as requested by the Manager of Engineering and Maintenance Services. 9. Act as primary liaison with parties making external environmental inquiries. 10. Act as primary contact with HSE regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, Virginia DEQ, Virginia Department of Labor, City of Danville Wastewater Treatment Plant, etc.). 11. Monitor development of HSE regulations with applicability or potential applicability to site operations. 12. Supervise and direct work of the Site Safety Coordinator and HSE Specialist1. Interpret requirements of environmental, health, and safety regulations and recommend compliance options to management.   2. Make recommendations to management regarding staffing needs of HSE Department; and screen and hire HSE staff.   3. Make recommendations to the VP of Operations regarding the need for purchase of additional environmental, health, and safety related equipment.   4. Responsible for communicating with regulatory agencies as needed to comply with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. A minimum of a four year degree in engineering, chemistry, or other related field of study plus a minimum of ten years experience in addressing environmental, health, and safety regulatory requirements in a consulting and/or plant setting is required.
