Health and Safety Manager

Position Description:

Develop and implement a variety of proactive initiatives to drive safety and health performance for a ~1000 employee chemical manufacturing site. Responsible for leading all aspects of site Health and Safety operations, including: Health and Safety training, Voluntary Protection Program Participation, Industrial Hygiene and Site Medical Center Management. Lead team of four direct reports to achieve Six Sigma quality and business goals for site programs, including maintaining site VPP Star Status. Requires extensive interaction with numerous stakeholders including regulatory agencies, union membership, operation managers and corporate/headquarters EHS.


Requirements:

BS/BA Engineering, occupational safety or equivalent degree/experience. Minimum five years leadership experience in chemical industry, manufacturing or safety management. Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks successfully. High energy, results oriented, strong leadership, and ability to energize others. Proven track record of results and experience leading cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills:

Six Sigma Blackbelt Certification. Masters Degree in related discipline. Prior leadership experience with VPP.
