Health and Safety Supervisor

Baytown, Texas

 

 

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

 

· To be seen as the facility expert and resource on matters of Health & Safety and to maintain a strong “In-The-Field� presence for Health & Safety at the facility

· To anticipate, identify and evaluate facility hazards and to propose and implement appropriate preventative measures, safeguards and controls

· To effectively communicate, advise and provide training at the facility with respect to the hazards and associated prevention and control methods and management systems

· To implement Health & Safety programs and initiatives at the facility to promote superior Health & Safety performance

· To work closely with the Facility Manager to maintain the H&S relationship with key customer contactsDESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

· College diploma in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline.

· Proficient in relevant safety legislation.

· Minimum 5 years of Health & Safety experience in chemical process and/or construction safety.

 

COMPETENCIES:

 

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Detailed knowledge of statutory acts and regulations pertaining to workplace safety in the respective industry.

· Ability to influence in a logical manner from a sound knowledge and experienced base.

· Experienced in training adults in Health & Safety programs

· Excellent labour relations skills in a non-union environment with experience working with various trade unions

· Knowledge of the Responsible Care® ethic

· Competent with Microsoft Suite of Office Applications

· Team player
