Information Architect (Software Component Architect) - 08002700

Develop and utilize business knowledge and relationships to apply technical and design solutions to deliver canonical information models and consistent metadata content to enable reusable transactional and analytical information services. Assist and/or develop detailed specifications utilizing in-depth understanding of data management tools, technologies, and architectures. Work collaboratively with stakeholders and stewardship groups to ensure the architectures, frameworks, models and tools associated with information management and governance provide demonstrable value. Create/maintain/promote reference architectures such as content and metadata models, taxonomies and semantic models and support their use in projects and initiatives. Translate business requirements into implementation process by considering alternatives and implementing the best strategy to ensure design meets performance, usability, reliability and scalability requirements. Develop/recommend/document standards and processes to facilitate information mapping.  Implement and promote governance processes for information and metadata to ensure establishment of a common language and the ongoing accuracy, validity and reuse of metadata. Perform basic project management tasks including planning, estimating, status reporting and scope management. Design/develop structures, models and deployment scripts for information services on SOA platform(s)Has a high level of understanding of SDG&E’s IT Lifecycle tools and its application.  Is able to provide team leaders with good and proactive information regarding the creation and maintenance of project plans. Interacts with architecture efforts integrating data warehouse, portal, enterprise application integration (EAI), master data management, metadata management and analytic technologies in support of strategic directions. Qualifications  5+ years experience as a software/information architect. Experience in utility application-domains is desirable (e.g T&D Asset Management, Work Management, Fleet Management, Customer Information System, Financials, Geographical Information Systems, etc.) Experience with metadata management, semantic modeling, and a strong understanding of the principles of information modeling that includes terms and definitions, thesaurus, taxonomy, ontology etc. Experience with information and data modeling tools and technologies (UML, XML, ER, etc.) Must be able to comprehend complex application architecture models and service oriented architecture. Ability to creatively refine business requests for information and provide clients / management with improved information delivery. Ability to think independently to provide solutions and procedures and be effective at multitasking. Ability to develop and maintain excellent customer relationships, and has a full understanding of their business processes and needs. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
