The Instrumentation and Electronic Technician is a technical position focused on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical, telecommunication, automation and measurement systems and equipment. The Instrumentation and Electronic Technician will play a significant role in the operations and maintenance of pipeline equipment within the US Pipelines and Logistics Business Unit.
Accountabilities Include:Follow all HSSE, operational and maintenance practices and procedures.Test, maintain, troubleshoot, analyze and repair equipment as assigned, including switchgears, motor control centers and related equipment.Calibrate complex systems and equipment in order to meet regulatory compliance and company standards.Prepare and submit documentation in order to meet compliance standards set forth by federal, state and local government agencies and company policies.Interface with Operations and Engineering team members in order to resolve operational issues.Design systems and equipment to provide safe and efficient pipeline operations. This may include concept, estimates, drawings, purchasing, installation and final testing.Perform knowledge transfer with systems, maintenance and operations personnel.Build and perform tests for prototype systems in order to determine operability and compatibility.Oversee contractor and vendor maintenance, repair and installation activity.Perform Maximo based maintenance activities, including but not limited to preventive repairs, technical support and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role Instrumentation and Electronic Technician applicants must have:Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.The ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license and clear driving record.Strong Pipeline Operations, Terminal Storage and/or Petrochemical industry experience.Proficient Instrument Technician experience.Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code, California State Safety Orders and OSHA guidelines.Strong general computer skills.Proficient software application skills including Microsoft Word.Strong knowledge of and experience with electrical, telecommunications, automation and measurement equipment, including the ability to assemble, install, calibrate and troubleshoot control loops and electrical faults.The ability to read and interpret blueprints, electronic, electrical and mechanical schematics, one-line diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).The ability to distinguish colors.The ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.The ability to routinely wear personal protective equipment as needed, but not limited to, eye/face protection, flame retardant clothing, foot protection, gloves, hearing protection and head protection.The willingness and ability to work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as necessary and be subject to call-outs, including response to emergency situations on a 24-hour basis.The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.The willingness and ability to relocate to or commute on a daily basis to Long Beach, California without company assistance.Strong self-motivation and the ability to be accountable for achieving long-term and day-to-day goals and tasks.Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.Strong organization, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels, both internally and externally.The ability to work independently without direct supervision.Strong problem solving skills with the ability to overcome obstacles and make good decisions.The ability to work effectively on diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:Vocational or specialized training in Maintenance Management, Basic Supervision and Communications.Electronics Technical Degree or International Studies Association (ISA) Certified Control Systems Technician certification.State of California issued Journeyman Instrumentation and Electronic Technician License.Emergency response training including Hazwoper, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and respiratory.
