Lab Technician- Mechanically inclined with BS in Physics/Engineering

Kelly Scientific Resources is recruiting for a Lab Technician to work in the Richmond, CA facility of our client, a leader in the Chemical and Fuel Combustion industry. This position is temporary and will last for approximately 6 months with possible extension. The incumbent will be:-Able-bodied mechanically-oriented individual (Phase Behavior &/or reservoir oil experience is a plus) to help out with PVT Laboratory's technical service. -Working in a Phase Behavior-PVT Lab which transfers/manipulates high-pressure reservoir fluid samples into pressure vessels and equipment. -Handling the associated hardware needed to perform these analyses (measurements at reservoir temp). -Setup experiments using hand tools and the following high pressure equipment: sample cylinders, valves, tubing, and several different types of fittings. -Maintenance and plumbing of laboratory equipment including test cells and computer equipment-Acquisition, summarization, analysis and quality control of data, basic PC knowledge-Prepare samples for testing-Possess safe laboratory practice knowledge and skills, including working with high pressure, high temperature equipment-Work as part of a multifunctional team involved in the measurement of rock and fluid properties, cross train in other areas as needed-Be responsible for maintenance, plumbing and trouble-shooting of the test and data acquisition equipment. Minimally a person who is very mechanical and good at plumbing with Swagelok, pipe fittings, Autoclave Engineers and HIP fittings to help us set new flow systems.-Responsible for the upkeep of the Laboratory and work with Service Company for safety and maintenance. -It is mandatory that the technician follow safe working procedures for high pressure equipment. -Technician should be willing to work in a team environment and performing multiple tasks in the above disciplinary areas. -Technician must be willing to work with hazardous materials (crude oil, solvents).-Perform other duties as assigned-Mechanical aptitude is a mustOur client requires the following experience and qualifications:' BS/BA in Physics or Engineering. The position requires fundamental understanding or training in one of the following: physics, petroleum or chemical engineering, mechanical engineering.' Must have computer skills in Excel and Word.
