MECHANICAL ENGINEER / MAINTENANCE ENGINEER
MECHANICAL ENGINEER / MAINTENANCE ENGINEER Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor I'm presently working on an assignment for a client who happens to be one of the world's largest chemical companies. They operate more than 60 manufacturing facilities spread across a dozen plus countries, and their global sales are approaching $50B. This particular Texas facility, which has an excellent reputation and happens to be their largest chemical plant, produces 6MMM pounds of product each year, and my mission is to quickly find a pair of mechanical maintenance engineers that can help support operations at their 5-unit plant and possibly their nearby storage facility. In return they offer legacy petrochemical benefits in a highly profitable, bonus and safety oriented operation, while encouraging their employees to balance their careers, growing families, friendships, and personal interests. Responsibilites: Day-to-day support of operations, maintenance, reliability and construction personnel through troubleshooting, optimizing, and ensuring safe and reliable mechanical operations. Contribute to reducing plant maintenance, operating costs, and safety incidents, in part through promoting and maintaining ISO 9000 and Process Safety Management (PSM) within assigned areas of responsibility. Drive the Management of Change (MOC) process and provide cost estimates to the budgeting team on smaller capital projects. Participate on and drive the front end loading process for various larger capital projects. Activities include scoping and prioritization, brainstorming, preliminary and detailed mechanical piping, equipment, and structural designs, issuing authorization for equipment, start-up support, testing, post audit evaluations, and completion of proper documentation. This requires detailed knowledge of how to use the codes and specification, working with CAD and piping designers, PSM, MOC, and and the Capital Value Process (CVP). Provide support to Operations and Maintenance to determine root cause analysis of equipment problems and failures. Issue mechanical packages to complete repair to damaged equipment (e.g., boilers, furnaces, heat exchangers, piping, etc.). Perform Process Hazard analysis (PHA) and participate on HAZOP studies. Manage and promote Preventative Maintenance programs (PM) throughout the site. Must haves: BSME with at least 5 years experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or like manufacturing site. Strong basic engineering skills with knowledge of process equipment including pumps, compressors, piping systems, pressure vessel, metallurgy considerations, exchangers, and relief valves. Demonstrated ability to be innovative and to apply technical skills to improve safety and quality, reduce costs, and increase production. Proven track record in problem solving and decision making and exceeding objectives and delivering results. Excellent technical judgment and interpersonal skills. Good to haves: Experience with rotating equipment. Root cause failure analysis. Project engineering or experience leading projects.
