Maintenance Mechanical Engineer-OxyChem

• Demonstrated safety and environmental values and leadership.
• Provide technical support and training to planners, craft supervisors and area crafts.
• Provide ownership and continuous improvement for relief device (e.g., pressure relief valve, rupture disc) programs.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.1, and NBIC codes desired.
• Provide ownership and continuous improvement for pipe, valve and gasket specifications.
• Recommend, specify and justify mechanical system changes and upgrades including input from operations and maintenance crafts.
• Consult with Maintenance and Operations personnel on a regular basis regarding plant concerns to insure reliability issues are properly addressed.
• Review and investigate equipment failures, recommend improvements, maintain documentation on performance.
• Troubleshooting, testing, and implementation of creative solutions, which requires knowledge on a wide variety of mechanical equipment in a chemical plant setting.
• Provide technical assistance to the Equipment Inspection Group, which could include, scope of work for pressure vessel repairs, testing requirements, materials selection and creation of guidelines.
• Provide direction and make recommendations for Preventive and Predictive maintenance techniques, which include vibration and oil analysis, PM ‘s for OSHA and PSM selected equipment, and cost savings ideas.
• Provide project engineering for maintenance and assigned capital projects. Involved in project scoping, estimating, and acquisition of capital (AFE’s). Including material specification, procurement, contractor supervision and scheduling.
• Provide direction to Maintenance and Construction personnel regarding specifications, repairs, and installation of equipment.
• Evaluate capabilities of service contractors and specify their use as required.
• Provide direction/leadership and support as needed for planned and unplanned outages.
• Develop and maintain expertise in areas of specialization, develop new skills, develop overall technical competence and participate in programs to improve professional development.

BS degree in engineering required with 3-5 years min. plant experience. Proven engineering skills mandatory. Good working knowledge of mechanical equipment – design, maintenance and operation – required.

Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
