Ponca City Refinery ConocoPhillips' refinery located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, has a crude oil processing capacity of 187 MBPD. Both foreign and domestic crudes are delivered by pipeline from the Gulf of Mexico, Canada, Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. The refinery's facilities include fluid catalytic cracking, delayed coking and hydro-desulfurization units, that enable it to produce high ratios of gasoline and diesel fuel from crude oil. Finished petroleum products are shipped by truck, rail and Company-owned and common carrier pipelines to markets throughout the mid-continent region. Operations are run 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Major Products: Gasoline, Diesel, Jet fuel, Kerosene, Heating oils. Capacities: Crude oil and Other Charge Capacity: 187,000 BPD, Gasoline Production Capacity: 105,000 BPD, Distillate Production Capacity: 75,000 BPD. Description Provide reliability and mechanical engineering support for a refinery area's operating team. Provide leadership for the area's reliability improvement effort, ensuring high reliability of that area's equipment and process units. The open position is in our East Plant area that contains crude, FCC and catalytic reforming units. Responsibilities The Mechanical Reliability Engineer may be responsible for:Preventing safety and loss-of-containment incidents by directing the appropriate follow-up actions in response to mechanical integrity inspections. Ensuring high reliability of mechanical equipment and process units in area. Working with the area production team, reliability techs and inspectors to make repair timing decisions. Identifying chronic-problem equipment utilizing reliability engineering techniques. Leading the area's reliability improvement projects and Root Cause Analyses to address chronic equipment problems. Participating in the area's Process Hazards Analyses representing the mechanical engineering function. Monitoring the performance of critical equipment and making repair recommendations. Monitoring and adjusting the area's preventive maintenance activities. Monitoring the area's operator round equipment findings directing corrective actions to prevent failures. Working with Operators to optimize operator round equipment inspections. Sharing reliability best practices by participating on and contributing to the plant Reliability Network team.Basic/Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Three or more years of Mechanical Engineering experience in a maintenance, reliability or mechanical integrity support role for a refinery or petrochemical plant. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions.Preferred QualificationsTrained and some experience applying a Root Cause Analysis methodology. Experience working in SAP's PM module. Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills. Strong written communication skills. Strong safety, environmental and ethical core values.
