The Intermediates business within INVISTA produces chemical intermediates for the manufacture of nylon and spandex (Terathane), a range of specialty chemicals (DBE. DYTEK, C12, Terates) and nylon polymer. The business has a focused vision to maintain and grow its position to be the worlds most successful chemicals and polymers business. We are currently seeking an ambitious, talented Research & Development Nylon Intermediates Manager to join the Intermediates Research and Development Group based in Orange, TX. Responsibilities:*Provide overall technology leadership and direction for the Nylon Intermediates Business.*Provide Leadership for compliance activities and drive the MBM culture change across Nylon Intermediates Research & Development by personal involvement and action *Create and lead Research & Development programs that maximize and grow Profits, Return on Capital Consumed, and the Net Present Value of the business. *Be an advocate for Innovation (Product, Product Application, Process) as a key strategy for the success of the Nylon Intermediates Business. Drive innovation as a way to improve profitability of our existing technology platforms and to identify new platforms. Provide the technology link to regional manufacturing organization; coordinate initiatives with regional manufacturing director and site technology leads. *Lead the Nylon Intermediates Research & Development Team to identify, develop, and commercialize new technology platforms that will have a significant impact on the global business. *Product/Product Application Commercialization Lead the successful introduction of new products and new applications for existing products. Benchmark competitive offerings and determine trade quality ratings of INVISTA offerings. Accountable for all technical issues at the customer. Qualifications: *Experience in a manufacturing environment with specialty chemicals, polymers, and/or other related industries. *Experience in sales and/or marketing or technical marketing of a technically based product (i.e. specialty chemical, engineering polymer, etc.) *Experience with economic tools to asses Research & Development initiatives, e.g. Net Present Value, Option Values, Risk Adjusted Net Present Value, Discounted PV & Costs, etc.. *Experience managing a global Research & Development Function. *A proven track record of working with customers to; identify new product opportunities and successfully work with the entire value chain to introduce and commercial new products.*Successful track record translating technology into practical solutions. *Demonstrated experience working in a global and matrix R&D and Business environment *Demonstrated experience to tie Research & Development initiatives to the bottom line and their contribution to a businesss growth*Bachelors Degree or higher in Polymer Science, Chemistry and/or Chemical EngineeringEDUCATION PREFERRED: Advanced degree (i.e. PhD) and/or significant experience Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and/or Polymer ScienceWe are an equal opportunity employer.
