Operations Technician
Perform routine startup/shutdown and maintenance of individual equipment and process. Truck loading/unloading, direct fire and waste heaters, utility systems including, air, water, cooling tower, fuel gas, and electrical. Monitors process variables and conditions to ascertain the current state of the operated process. Adjusts process variables and conditions using various control systems to optimize the production of specification products. Supervises or performs product loading operations for trucks as needed. Monitors the usage of utilities, fuel, chemicals, etc. to prevent excessive consumption at current processing rates. Monitor and recognize changes in facility processes of equipment. Performs procedures necessary to remove the condition or shutdown the process/facility in order to protect personnel and equipment. In the absence of a supervisor, works with coworkers in the response to emergency situations requiring coordination, equipment or plant shutdown, and/or evacuationRecognized malfunctions in individual equipment and perform minor maintenance as necessary to correct problems. Operate 12” Seahawk Slug Catcher facilities’. Writes repair work requests for routine and major maintenance that cannot be handled as part of normal operations. Reads, calculates, and/or estimates process flow rates, volumes, and other conditions and prepares operational logs and reports. Obtains liquid samples for analysis and testingParticipates in preparation of operating procedures and the training of co-workers in safe and efficient operating practices. Performs ES&H work related duties as needed.Utilize and follow all safe work practices and procedures including Lockout / Tagout.Willing to accept assignments to other locations in support of business operationsWilling to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.Willing to work overtimeWilling to maintain communications for enabling response to callouts in support of business operations
Minimum Essential QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Requires ability to ride a bicycle and drive a motor vehicle. Valid La. driver’s license. Valid Drivers License must be maintainedContinued employment and promotion to higher levels achieved by demonstrating ability to perform required procedures in a safe manner and available openings. Ability to read and understand piping and instrumentation diagrams. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills that help establish a supportive climate with others. Basic job related computer knowledge. Able to climb and lift or push a minimum of 75 pounds.
Candidate must demonstrate ability to perform rigorous outside duties including walking standing, climbing, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting kneeling, reaching, sitting, lifting, grasping, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.
Preferred QualificationsCollege courses in process technology, chemistry, process controls, and instrumentation preferred. Prefer 1 year previous experience in liquid hydrocarbon handling in a cryogenic gas processing facility. Operation of heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, loading/unloading trucks and experience with DCS Controls systems
