A workforce planning vacancy exists for an Operations and Maintenance Damage Prevention Specialist (O & M D). Workforce planning is used to recruit and train employees for future vacancies within the US Pipelines and Logistics Business Unit (PLBU). Although Texas City, Texas is the initial assignment, the actual assignment could be located elsewhere within the District.
The O&M D Specialist will play a key role in protecting the integrity of the pipeline system by avoiding third party damage within the US Pipelines and Logistics Business Unit.
Accountabilities Include:Follow all HSE, maintenance and operational best practices and procedures successfully and effectively.Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, but not limited to eye/face protection, flame retardant clothing (FRC), foot protection, appropriate gloves, hearing protection, head protection, etc.Perform pipeline identification, location and mark lines through the use of electronic locator and probe. Inspect area pipelines on a daily basis for leaks, replace damaged markers and check other irregularities. Inspections are completed both by vehicle and foot.Monitor and observe excavation activities over/near the pipeline.Act as a liaison on behalf of BP with utilities, municipalities, property owners, excavators and other third parties.Monitor all locate notifications for conflicts.Ensure all assigned equipment is in good working condition.Prepare as-built drawings of foreign line crossings and other outside construction activities.Complete required reports and documentation of field activities.Complete all training and qualification requirements within stated timeframe of the BP Pipelines Multi-Skilling Training Program.
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of O&M D Specialist applicants must have:Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.A valid driver's license with a clear driving record and the ability to drive a pick-up truck or similar, on and off the road.The ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, both internally and externally.The ability to work independently without direct supervision along with the ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse team.Strong general computer skills.The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.The willingness and ability to work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays, overtime and response to emergency call-outs.The willingness and ability to travel to or commute on a daily basis to Texas City, Texas without company assistance.The willingness and ability to perform occasional hand digging, manual probing, walking on rough terrain and/or lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted.The ability to read maps, alignment sheets and construction drawings.The ability to distinguish colors.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:Knowledge of all applicable Federal and State regulations, CFR 49 Part 195 (for liquid pipelines) and Part 192 (for gas pipelines).Two or more years of work experience in construction or maintenance operations.
