Clariant is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill the Personal Care Formulations Chemist position.  This position is also responsible for providing technical support for the personal care business group.  In this role the position requires the development and testing of prototype formulations with Clariant raw materials, preparation of sample formulations and related laboratory formulation work.  Other responsibilities of this position include developing a good working knowledge of the global product line and using that knowledge to answer technical questions and provide specific information on our products or use of our products.  This position would also perform certain product management duties and assist with preparation of technical literature such as brochures, data sheets and presentations.  In addition, the position may require performing market studies or assessments.  The position requires 20-30% travel and involves direct customer contact.

 

Applicants must have the following:

· A deep knowledge of the Personal Care/Cosmetics industry or closely related industry

· Formulation of personal care or closely related products

· Report writing, oral presentations, computer software (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)

· B.S. Chemistry

· 5 years in technical applications/formulation development in the field

· Experience with direct customer contact

 

The person in this position needs to be self-motivated and organized, able to manage several projects at one time while maintaining agreed upon priority for all.  As a frontline technical interface with the customer the person in this position needs excellent oral and written communications skills and good interpersonal skills.  The nature of the job demands flexibility and creativity in interacting with customers and in promoting Clariant products in the PC marketplace.
