  Polymer Production EngineerDepartment:   Polymer  Reports To:   Department ManagerFLSA Status:   Salaried Exempt SUMMARY Maximizes production volumes and Q1 conversions of raw materials into finished PET resin product. Reduces operating and product costs in the Polymer area. General Qualifications: Good analytical and problem-solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment, self-motivated, good computer skills, organized, and able to manage multiple projects at the same time, desire to work in a hands-on environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.  Supports daily production activities by analyzing process/product data and operating procedures to resolve polymer production problems.  Investigate production excursions for root cause, recommends actions to prevent future recurrences and implements solutions.  Recommends and implements production line/equipment modifications to increase production volumes, Q1 conversions and line reliability.  Identifies issues that limit run time of the production line and actions required to increase line life.  Identifies and implements cost reductions or cost avoidances.  Supports operator training with input on operating procedures, technical information and training needs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None.  QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:B.S. degree in Engineering required with a minimum of 3 years experience in the engineering field preferred. Preferably experience in chemical manufacturing or a continuous process production environment.  Ø  Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.Ø  Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings and blueprints.Ø  Knowledge of algebra, calculus, statistics and their application.Ø  Knowledge of physical principles, laws and their application.   LANGUAGE SKILLS Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, rules of composition and grammar. Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure/vendor manuals.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.  MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAble to use mathematical skills inherent to those prerequisite to a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Ability to use a Computer and software such as, Excel, Word, scheduling software and the like. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Apply critical thinking skills by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative approaches to problems. Able to use deductive reasoning  to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
