Process Control Engineer

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

Provide technical support to the operating units, primarily in the area of process control.  This support requires the use of systems engineering principles, control system knowledge, process technology knowledge, and data analysis.

 

Develop and implement new analog, digital and supervisory process control strategies.

 

Provide support as required for troubleshooting existing process control applications.

 

Perform safety studies.

 

Plan/coordinate projects of moderate scope and complexity, involving justification, selection and utilization of a digital computer.

 

Define, identify and prepare justifications for potential areas of process control applications.

 

Define and utilize mathematical models, evaluate experimental or plant data, and recommend solutions to process control problems using this data.

 

Stay abreast of technical developments in the process control and computer fields, and act as a technical consultant on process control engineering to others in the plant and the company.

 

Provide proper documentation of projects.

 

Apply Six Sigma methodology in management of cost reduction and continuous improvement activities.

 



 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* BS in Chemical Engineering

* Computer programming

* 3+ years experience in instrumentation and process control in a manufacturing plant environment

* Certification or interest in seeking certification as a Six Sigma Black/Green Belt

* Effective oral and written communications skills

* History of positive results

* Demonstrated strategic thinking and business understanding
