Huntsman currently has a challenging position as a PROCESS ENGINEER for our Performance Products Plant in Port Neches, Texas.
Key Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:Monitor existing plant operations and implement new process improvement ideas to assure the plant meets key plant goals and objectives for EH&S, raw material & utility usage, operation and maintenance costs. Identify key process parameters and targets. Participate in the plant quality process by helping to identify and resolve quality issues. Assist in Six Sigma Improvement Projects in area either as a Green Belt or team member for a Black Belt project.Do detailed process material and energy balances on unit operations as required. Monitor equipment uptimes and maintenance requirements for key process equipment. Participate in end-of-month close activities such as raw material & product balances; review of shipments, receipts, productions and usages for unusual variances; and unit utility usages.Collect and evaluate process data for special plant studies and test projects. Summarize and report results. Assure that appropriate MOCs have been initiated and completed for process changes. Participate in unit HAZOPS and/or PHAs. Assist Operations in the development of unit operating procedures. May be required to provide some technical training to operations personnel for new projects/procedures.Develop new plant project scopes and evaluate project justification for facility improvements that support the business strategy. Recommend process improvements and initiate new projects as required to meet new Safety and Environmental regulations and/or improve compliance with existing regulations. Maintain proper contacts with Business Center and Research Facility personnel to insure proper exchange of technical and operational information. May be involved in the selection and/or approval of new chemicals, catalyst, inhibitors, etc.Ability to use various software applications essential to technical performance.Excellent Verbal and Written skills
Educational Requirements and Work Experience:Strong background in Distillation and simulation. Bachelor Degree Chemical Engineering 3-5 years experience Chemical Manufacturing or RefineryExcellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills Ability to interface effectively with maintenance, operations and management staff Ability to coordinate multiple activities Good judgment skills and solid commitment to excellence Must be willing to take responsibility for personal performanceExperience with simulation program(s) would be beneficial to this position.Six Sigma training would also be beneficial, but is not a requirement.
