Process Engineer - chemical or plastic background

We currently seek a high caliber Process Engineer for a direct hire position. Based in Charleston, SC, you will be working for a leading company in the chemical and plastic industry.

Job Description:

In order to generate the greatest contribution to our company, this person must be results driven and have excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Your primary responsibilities will include technical and process support to operations for the fibers melt spinning areas by maintaining and improving mechanical reliability, operability, safety and cost. An ability to demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills is a must. Reporting to our Technical Manager and as an active member of our technical and operations team, you will interact with site/business operations, respond to business and customer needs, assist and participate with technical groups and business unit personnel to work toward improving process, product and/or quality variability while continually contributing to advancing our process capability. You will also provide process/engineering support and leadership for capital projects. Above all, you must ensure that all your activities are carried out with integrity and in a safe and efficient manner.


Job Requirements:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineer (Chemical Engineers would be considered)
• 3-7 years experience in a chemical/manufacturing plant environment.
• Experience in fiber production would be an asset
• Strong demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Spanish (Oral/Written) would be an asset
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment with all personnel regardless of function/level.
• Strong organization and planning skills.
• Results oriented. Ability to translate key area and business needs into the right priorities and action
• Ability to stay abreast of current technology and apply it within our manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Root Cause Failure Analysis or similar problem solving skills would be an asset
• Demonstrated project leadership and execution skills would be an asset
