Job Description Process Engineers Job Title Process Engineer 1 Location Mount Laurel, NJ, US Primary Job Responsibilities Entry level; performs routine aspects of engineering requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles under close supervision; work is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy. Evaluates the desired goal of the system and develops, designs, or selects the required equipment, power controls, piping, structures and earthwork to achieve the goal: Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial and commercial applications: Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects: Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements: Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer: May direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations: May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering task. Researches, develops, designs, and tests a variety of equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes. Training and Experience 0-2 years of experience required, BS or MS in an engineering discipline, EIT certificate desirable Process Engineer IV Location Mount Laurel, NJ, US Primary Job Responsibilities Senior engineer; independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis within the discipline. Develops designs that require innovation and ingenuity. Work performed with minimal supervision; has considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Participates in the design of a process unit, including establishing process design basis, development of process options and optimization of selected design. Implements, modifies, and maintains chemical processes: Calculates and organizes data for process flow sheets including instrumentation and control considerations: Models processes and units operations: Ensures proper sequence of operation: Prepares specifications and operating instructions for processing equipment: Develops process flow diagram to define heat and material balance: Develops process specifications, e.g. distillation columns, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and fired heaters: Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects: Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements: Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer. Process Engineer V Location Mount Laurel, NJ, US Primary Job Responsibilities Under administrative direction functions as Lead Process Engineer, supervises and coordinates the activities of assigned task force engineers; schedules and assigns work; evaluates employee performance and work quality; acts independently on technical matters, including developing the scope, setting the basic approach and exploring novel concepts; assists in the presentation of training programs. Acts as Lead engineer on medium to large or may be assigned a part of a major project under a Lead Engineer. May be assigned special administrative or technical duties. Assists in proposal activities to ensure that Process Engineering scope is correctly addressed. Assists proposal team in document preparation and, as required, sales presentations. Reviews client inquiry documents and correctly defines process scope for the proposal. Reviews client inquiry documents and correctly identifies implied or explicit plant performance requirements for which the company would be liable. Identifies processes which require or may require licensor design and agreements. When required, assists in preparation of secrecy/royalty agreements. When required, assists or makes technical presentations to the client. These presentations must be positive, technically correct and in accordance with the proposal team objectives. Develops appropriate level of process design data for the proposal. Assists in identifying previous related jobs and/or designs. Assists in developing, for proposal activities and/or the proposal, necessary process scope, process manpower and process schedule requirements. Assists in reviews of cost estimates for the proposed facilities to ensure agreement with the proposed process scope. Training and Experience BS in Chemical Engineering required plus a minimum of ten years petroleum refining or petrochemical experience.
