QC Chemistry Supervisor/FL

JOB FUNCTION:
Working under very general supervision from the Quality Assurance Manager, the person in this position supervises the laboratory function in a medical device and pharmaceutical facility. Performs moderate technical support to quality/ manufacturing/engineering departments. Responsibility may be in chemistry or microbiology laboratory.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the Quality Control laboratory function in a medical device/pharmaceutical facility. Gives work direction to other technical resources and technicians.
Develops and validates laboratory techniques, written procedures, standard protocols to support research, scientific, technical, or engineering-related disciplines.
Performs accurate data entry into logs or computer databases. Interprets and analyzes scientific data into product reports and summaries.
Provides quality support for a business by assisting management in complying with worldwide regulatory requirements. Develops or participates in the development of solutions to problems of intermediate to high complexity. Interprets, executes and recommends modifications to operating policies where appropriate.
Helps to develop, and implements plans and procedures to comply with applicable local, state, federal, and international regulations. Assures that the programs in the area of expertise are maintained and comply with US FDA, GLP and International regulatory guides.
Project Leadership/Project Management as assigned.
Leads and participates in continuous improvement.

KNOWLEDGE:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

Education:
A Bachelor's degree in a physical/related science is required.

Experience:
A minimum of five years experience. Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.

Skills:
Supervisory experience preferred.
Requires ability to develop solutions to technical problems of intermediate to high complexity, make appropriate decisions, and meet time constraints.
Working knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements relevant to manufacturing of regulated product.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and adapt guidelines.
Computer skills including familiarity with word processing programs, spreadsheets, graphics, database applications, and statistical tools.
Experienced in employee education and training methods, curriculum development, and text preparation.
Demonstrated team oriented behavior.
Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in groups and to accomplish set goals.
Takes ownership and accepts responsibility for actions and decisions.
Demonstrated organizational ability and attentiveness to detail
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
Special Training:
Good knowledge of the principles of analytical chemistry and techniques utilized within industry. Capable of articulating these principles.
Familiarity with statistical principles a benefit.
Knowledge of laboratory testing techniques and calibration of field instrumentation and documentation.
Working knowledge of GLPs.
Good knowledge of method validation requirements. Knowledge of the principles of process validation is a benefit.


SALARY RANGE:  $45,000 - 60,000 depending on experience.  Education: Bachelors DegreeJob Level: 5-8 Years
