Railroad Operations - Switchmen

On-the-Job Training:

Employees will obtain 9 weeks of training. In this training you will learn how to safely and efficiently perform rail switching activities and locomotive operations.

Job Functions:

1) apply / remove hand brakes on Railcar equipment

2) operate switch stands

3) mount and dismount railroad equipment

4) use two-way hand-held radios

5) wear hardhats, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots

6) understand work orders and customer issues.

Railroad employees are subjected to all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold conditions, rain storms (except lightening).

Job Requirements:High School Diploma / GED Drug-free and pass a drug screen, physical exam Obtain OSHA card and security passport Reliable transportation No felony convictions Available for overtime opportunities Capable of working a 12 hour rotating day & night shifts Able to perform various physical components such as: constant climbing, walking, lifting and pushing during a 12 hour period. Several job-related employment references will be requested.
