Reliability Engineer Specialist

2020 Dow CenterThe Dow Chemical Company has an opening for a Reliability Engineering Specialist at its Freeport, TX site to support the Chlor-Vinyl plants.  The primary role of the Reliability Engineering Specialist is to increase the mechanical reliability of equipment in the assigned production units. The ideal candidate will provide technical expertise for trouble shooting, plant improvement, and process improvement which may be equipment based or repair-technique based.  This is done by providing reliability and maintenance engineering support in close coordination with the production unit leaders, the technology improvement group, plant operations personnel and the site central maintenance group. Key Responsibilities include: Serves as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations; Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions; Ensures that work requests include engineering input on repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc. and provides supports for deviations from this; Ensures repairs, repair techniques, equipment specific training are documented and made available; Support the Preventive Predictive Maintenance (PPM) coordinator as required in reviewing spare parts list for existing equipment. Develops maintenance operating discipline, and as required, supports work packages. Enters Quality Service, Product & Performance (QSPP) information into the reporting system. Participates in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy. During development of turnaround work provides input on development of work orders particularly on critical equipment requiring engineering review or input. Develop and implement facility maintenance strategies and equipment strategies. Provides equipment reliability and performance data to the technical resource networks. Be an active participate on the Global Chlor-Vinyl Reliability network Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required (Mechanical is preferred); Minimum of three (3) years work experience in Maintenance, Operations or Engineering is preferred; and Strong interpersonal, technical, and leadership skills. Assets: Experience in a chemical manufacturing facility; Experience in reliability modeling, budgeting for expenditures, Six Sigma methodology, and leading projects.
