SAP BW/BI Development Engineer

 

Chemical Abstracts Service has an immediate opening for a Developer Engineer in its Information Technology Division.  Responsibilities will include SAP BW development, development leadership, and BW production support.  This person will be responsible for understanding the entire BW solution at CAS and be able to contribute to solution development to meet business requirements.  Needed skills include:

 Experience with SAP BW 3.5Basic ABAP programming capability for R/3 extraction routines, BW transfer rules and update rulesKnowledge of data warehousing, tables and structures (star schema, dimensions, master data)Knowledge of data modeling techniquesKnowledge of concepts and architecture of the SAP Business Information Warehouse Hands-on experience working with SAP BW/BI tools, focusing on Extraction, Transformation and Loading of Data. (ETL) Knowledge of the SAP BW Metadata repository Experience creating, modifying, loading and troubleshooting BW Master Data, BW ODS Objects and BW InfoCubes (Basic Cubes, Multi-cubes, Remote cubes, and Aggregates)Enhanced functions of SAP Business Explorer Analyzer  (RSRT transaction)Knowledge of the Pre-calculation Server used by Information BroadcasterExperience using Process Chains to automate loading and other processingKnowledge of the different delta mechanisms and data staging from several source systems:Generic ExtractionEnhancement of extractorsExtraction and Staging from Non-SAP Systems (Oracle and Sybase)Data extraction from SAP Components:Custom ABAP coding in user exits, BADIs and function modulesCustomizing of Logistic Extract Structures  Experience with SAP BW authorization methods Implementation experience with ASAP for BW: Methodology of SAP BW Implementation ASAP Project Phases (Project Preparation, Business Blueprint, Realization, Final Preparation, Go Live & Support)

 Additional Desired Skills:

Experience working in SAP R/3, particularly with Sales Distribution.

Basic Unix file manipulation and shell scripting skills

Excel VBA macro coding and testing

Experience implementing and using NetWeaver 2004s BI 7.0

 

Candidates must have a degree in Computer Science/related discipline or equivalent experience.  Preferred background in SAP BW reporting, or with R/3 Sales and Distribution.  Strong SAP technical, design, interaction, and leadership skills are required.  Must exhibit strong teaming and organizational skills.  This candidate should possess a process focus with the ability to go form “as-is” to “to-be” as well as experience with a structure project methodology.  BW hands-on ABAP development experience (3-5 years) is highly preferred.  Thorough understanding of BW or R/3 data structures and middleware via experience with multiple BW and or R/3 end-to-end implementations and go-lives is a plus.
