POSITION SUMMARY

This position has the responsibility to build and operate lab and pilot scale equipment, analyze and document results in a safe and environmentally compliant manner. This position will: Design laboratory units Build laboratory and pilot scale units Operate laboratory and pilot scale units safely Establish SOP’s for all assigned units and equipment Performs (preventative) maintenance on all assigned units and equipment Analyze pertinent samples Document results in a concise format in laboratory databook. Perform housekeeping on a regular basis by cleaning and organizing assigned areas Dispose of waste and expired chemicals Improve unit operation by selecting improved equipment Order materials and supplies in a timely manner Enter new chemicals and supplies into pertinent databases Advise and train younger lab technicians on laboratory operations and procedures
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS 

Knowledge of laboratory guidelines, good laboratory practices in addition to environmental health and safety guidelines Good PC skills, utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel and Access Knowledge of GC, GPC, Karl Fischer, acid, base analytical techniques or possesses the ability to master them quickly. Possess a high learning agility Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapts easily to change Good Interpersonal & Communication skills, both verbally and in written form Ability to follow and implement directions for lab experiments as well as appropriate documentation of results. Ability to maintain confidentiality in regards to patents, proprietary information, etc.
 EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
  Associates degree required in chemistry, biochemistry, or microbiology, Bachelors degree preferred 5+ years of experience working in a Research & Development Lab, and knowledge of experience in pilot plants, GC, and analytical experience.
