Our broad objectives center on the continual development and improvement of petroleum refining, petrochemical, gas production, energy and chemical production technology. There is an immediate opening for a Senior Materials Scientist within our Research and Development department. These positions play a key role in the invention and development of new catalysis technologies by conducting materials and process research.  Accountabilities of this position include: Providing the primary technical support in one or more related catalysis or material science technologies. Maintaining and managing the technical knowledge base for assigned technology area. Inventing technology or materials improvements and breakthroughs to incorporate innovations into UOP’s technology offering for assigned area. Leading research and development projects, including planning, championing and delivering assigned programs on budget, on time and within the constraints of agreed scope and resources. Coordinating the workflow for a project team, including resource planning, scheduling, and prioritizing workload. Working with manager / team leader to identify and resolve resource issues. Monitoring the industry in assigned technology area for opportunities and threats. Coordinating with technology area management and Marketing and Sales in this role. Providing recommendations of future projects in assigned technology area. Maintaining effective interactions with other scientists and engineers as required. Evaluating and integrating developments in other technology areas for application in assigned technology area and promoting flow of innovation from assigned technology area to other technologies. Advising management on Intellectual Property strategy for assigned technology area. Ensuring that experimentation under his / her supervision is conducted in a safe manner. Following and promoting HS&E policy and guidelines.Basic Qualifications PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering with a focus on materials synthesis A minimum of 5 years professional work experience in the synthesis of inorganic materials Record of patents and publications demonstrating innovative R&D contributions. Additional Qualifications: Excellent team and communication skills.
