Senior Naval Architect
Position Summary
The Senior Naval Architect provides engineering and technical support for the Companys fleet operations, new build programs, modification projects and upgrade projects. This support is to include developing analytical solutions for structural analysis, riser analysis, mooring analysis, DP Analysis, and stability analysis.
Essential Job Functions
General:Provides input to the annual plan and budget to ensure cost effective implementation.Provides required financial and operational reports and forecasts.Participates in the accountability system and reports personal performance.Implements mechanisms to achieve effective communication, coordination of effort, information flow, and learning with team members.Participates in a high level of productivity, teamwork, and employee satisfaction.
Engineering:Perform design and analysis of drilling rig structures, mooring systems and riser systems.Develop and complete analytical solutions using structural analysis, riser analysis, mooring analysis, Dynamic Positioning Analysis, and stability analysis.Attend field rig surveys and audits as required including weight and stability audits and DP FMEA audits.Maintain quality assurance of the Safety Critical Documentation, drawings and plans.Assist in the quality assurance of the classification and regulatory documentation.Assist in the maintenance of the fleets general arrangement drawings.Provide technical support to Operations, Marketing and other Company departments as required.Participates in the development of design standards and technical specifications for drilling rig systems applying industry standards, classification requirements and regulatory requirements.Evaluates design proposals; performs concept and feasibility studies.Develops and evaluates cost studies.Designs and analyzes rig marine systems and equipment.Produces engineered designs for new rig and rig upgrade projects.Develops equipment and piping specifications and technical plans; applying industry, classification, and regulatory requirements and standards.Provides technical review of proposed rig systems based on drawings and inspections.Evaluates and recommends design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.Develops and/or reviews project scope of work, plans, and schedules for engineering projects.Provides technical direction to the Companys day to day operation.Provides engineering support to other departments as needed.
Secondary Job FunctionsProvides support to Engineering Projects and shipyard work as required.Prepares technical reports and drawings as required.
Qualifications Required
Education:Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university is required. Advanced degree preferred.Must be computer literate and competent in the use of MS-Word, MS-Excel, and have a working knowledge in AutoCAD.Experience in Riser, Mooring, DP, and Stability Analysis is required.Must have good inter-personnel communication skills and report writing skills.
Professional Experience:Must have a minimum of 10 years experience in the offshore drilling industry, preferably with an offshore drilling contractor.Familiarity with ASME, API, AISC, ABS, DNV, and MODU Codes is required.
Licenses, Certifications, Credentials, or Other Requirements:Must pass pre-employment and random drug test.
