Senior Safety Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION: A world leading producer of chemicals, polymers, and acrylics is in need of hiring a Senior Safety Engineer to serve multiple sites in North America. Will provide guidance and support to maintain compliance / company objectives in employee safety, health, safety management systems, and major risk prevention. Responsibilities are as follows: Provide expertise in the area of Mechanical Integrity, Inspection, Preventative Maintenance, and Contractor Management. Provide reliability expertise and understanding to assist with PSM compliance. Assure sites meet PSM regulatory laws and practices. Help reduce chemical process risk via best practices and standards application. Lead / participate on PHA teams at all sites. Act as Corporate 3rd party risk management assessments. Provide guidance to the plants from loss prevention surveys. Provide HSE support to capital projects. Lead / participate in Root Cause Analysis incident investigations. Develop / update company Process Safety procedures. Lead / participate in security vulnerability assessments and provide recommendations. Assure plant compliance with OSHA’s PSM and other health & safety regulations, EPA’s RMP regulations, and other Process Safety activities. Develop plans of action to deal with compliance directives from regulatory agencies. Lead / participate on audit teams for both plant sites and tollers. JOB REQUIREMENTS: BS in Safety Management, Mechanical Engineering or closely related degree. MS a major plus. 5 + years in Safety Management. Experienced in Process Safety Management. Strong working knowledge of mechanical integrity / reliability / inspection. Chemical industry experience a must. Lean / Sigma experience preferred. Ability to travel up to 30% for audits, training, and hands on work.
