Our broad objectives center on the continual development and improvement of petroleum refining, petrochemical, gas production, energy and chemical production technology.  UOP has an excellent career opportunity for a Senior Piping Engineer (Stress Analyst) within its Process Technology & Equipment (PT&E) organization in Des Plaines, IL. Position Responsibilities:Perform and evaluate piping stress analysis (using CAESAR II Software) and revise piping system designs. Responsible for pipe support component selection and pipe support design criteria. Participate in system design activities such as: P&ID development, Piping Material and Valve Specifications, Piping Line Indices, Insulation thickness tables and specifications & Piping Design and Fabrication specifications. Prepare requisitions for procurement of Piping Specialty items and Pipe Supports. Bid evaluation of requisitioned piping components, and review and approval of contractor documents and drawings.Develop and maintain in-house procedures. Keep current with technical and regulatory piping developments. Document piping expertise through written memos, procedures, tools, and papers. Reviewing the work of others and advising on technical problems. Travel will be approximately 5-15%. Basic Candidate Qualifications: B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent A minimum of 5 years of Chemical Plant and/or Petroleum Refinery Piping design work experience.3 plus years knowledge and experience in using applicable codes such as: ASME B31.3, ASME B16.5 and ASME Sections I & VIII and API, ANSI, MSS etc. 3 plus years experience in reviewing engineering design data for completeness and consistency prior to completion of Issue for Fabrication releases. Familiarity with Petroleum Refinery Piping materials with respect to piping and related components. 3 plus years knowledge and experience in using CAESAR II Stress analysis software. Ability to travel within and outside of the USA.  Travel will be approximately 5-15%. US Work Authorization.Additional Candidate Qualifications:Knowledge of AutoPipe and AutoPlant preferred. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Experienced in the area of stress analysis for pressure vessels, piping systems or structural components. Ability to thrive in a team based environment and have the ability to interact internally with engineers and sales personnel and externally with customers and subcontractors.
