Sr. Principal Business Consultant

The Manufacturing Business Consultant (pre sales) provides consultative sales support to the NALA sales organization to enable the Chemicals Vertical to achieve revenue growth targets. He/she will integrate broad solution knowledge, consultative skills, and industry knowledge to facilitate customer adoption of aspenONE modules. As an area of primary focus, the position provides business consulting expertise for the MSC modules of the aspenONE solution for Chemicals.

Specific responsibilities of the MSC Business Consultant are as follows:
• Articulate to customers the high-level value message of the entire AspenONE solution for Chemicals

• Apply consultative skills in customer-facing situations to identify problems and understand their business issues
• Participate and/or lead customer consulting engagements to facilitate sales, including workshops, value assessments, and seminars
• Facilitate customer understanding of MSC solution functionality, value creation, and business process improvement
• Provide leadership in the preparation and execution of executive meetings (BRP's)
• Perform customer demonstrations of software products as required
• Act as a business partner to sales account managers in strategic and tactical planning activities


B.S. in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years overall experience in industry, consulting, and/or technology. Extensive experience in the chemical industry. Broad understanding of chemical industry business processes for manufacturing operations, commercial management, and supply chain planning. Topical understanding of all of AspenTech's chemical industry solution modules (Engineering & Innovation, Production Management & Execution, Supply Chain Management, and Advanced Process Control), with deep understanding of at least two modules. Strong business acumen, with ability to assess and articulate customer value creation in a strategic context. Adept at performing customer interviews, mapping "As-Is" to "To-Be" business process, and overcoming resistance to change. Proficient in analyzing customer data in the execution of quantitative benefits assessments. Flexibility to travel 30-50% of time.
