Sr. Tax Accountant

 

GenTek, Inc is a technology-driven manufacturer of performance chemicals and industrial components.  We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Sr. Tax Accountant at Corporate Headquarters in Parsippany, New Jersey.  In this role you will participate in the preparation of Federal, State and local income and franchise tax filings including the filing of tax returns, estimates, and extensions.  Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, preparation of state apportionment data, maintenance of tax depreciation books, assisting in tax research, assisting in tax audits and responding to notices.

 Duties and Responsibilities

 

1.  Strong working knowledge of tax accounting and FASB 109.

 

2.  Prepare federal pro forma returns by obtaining required financial data and completing required forms.

 

3.  Prepare state and local income and franchise tax returns by obtaining required financial data and completing required forms.

 

4.  Prepare partnership federal and state tax returns by obtaining required financial data and completing required forms.

 

5.  Prepare US tax compliance for foreign companies, including Forms 5471.

 

6.  Assist in the audits of above returns.

 

7.  Prepare calculation of quarterly estimates against federal, state and local income and franchise tax liability to ensure compliance with tax regulations.

 

8.  Participate in tax planning for the purpose of minimizing amount due for business related taxes.

 

9.  Prepare state allocation and apportionment schedules.

 

10. Responsible for reconciliation of tax accounts rollforward.

 

11. Assist tax managers as needed.

Position Requirements

 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting; post graduate degree a plus.  Three (3) to five (5) years of experience required.  Must possess a strong knowledge of FAS 109 and FIN 48, and a knowledge of Federal, State, and local tax regulations and requirements.  Must be proficient in Excel and Word and be able to learn various other business software packages.  Strong written and oral communication skills are required along with the ability to interface with internal and external customers; must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.  Must possess the ability to display independent judgment and initiative. 

 

No relocation currently available for this position.  Successful candidate will possess authorization to work in the United States, and show proper documentation within three (3) days of date of hire.
