Storage Engineer
Location: Dallas, TX 75244 Employment Type: Full Time, Temporary/Contract/Project, Employee Pay Rate: 50.00 - 55.00 USD /hour90 Day Contract to Hire; 87-95K Conversion Salary Storage EngineerRequired Qualifications: * 5 - 7 years overall IT experience * Experience with SAN management, zoning, NetApp LUN assignment, switch and server configuration, data replication, disk space management, capacity forecasting, hardware acquisitions, asset management, performance management, and problem solving. * Enterprise storage implementation and administration with Network Appliance and SUN storage in multi-platform environments utilizing SCSI, FCP, or ISCSI protocols. Experience with EMC, Hitachi, and HP enterprise storage is also acceptable. * College Degree, preferably in CS, MIS, or Engineering, etc. * Minimum 2 years systems administration experience, preferably UNIX (Solaris 8,9,10, HP-UX), Linux RedHat (3, 4), or Windows (2000, 2003). * Knowledge and understanding of large scale network and direct attached storage concepts, architecture, and operations best practices. * Knowledge and understanding of ILM concepts and best practices. * Network file access utilizing NFS and CIFS protocols. * Enterprise data backup software, preferably EMC Legato (Disk Backup, NDMP, etc.) administration. * Ability to work as a team player in a collaborative environment. * Ability to travel (domestic and international) * Ability to work after normal business hours - nights and weekendsEssential Job Duties: * Provide comprehensive engineering and operations services on all network shared and direct attached storage implementations. This includes, but not limited to: vendor professional services and technical support coordination of storage device configuration, installation and administration o disk layout design o performance and health monitoring o problem troubleshooting and resolution, etc. * Lead initial installation and configuration of network and direct attached shared storage, storage area networks (SANs), storage related software as well as related data archiving and recovery systems. * Monitor enterprise network and direct attached shared storage for capacity planning and enforce security, configuration and patch management. * Utilize storage management concepts, best practices, and tools to develop, document, and lead/implement standard network and direct attached shared storage infrastructure related controls, processes, and procedures for optimum storage utilization. * Work in collaboration with the infrastructure architecture and engineering groups to develop, test, and document, operational processes and provide input for new enterprise network and direct attached shared storage technology. * Specific storage engineering duties include but, not limited to, creating engineering documentation, data classification, creating storage pools, storage monitoring, moving/copying data, projecting storage growth. * Integrate management tools to monitoring and alerting processes. * Engage and coordinate work with the Domestic and International site server infrastructure support teams in support of global network and direct attached shared storage operations. * Schedule and coordinate activities with vendors on software and hardware procurement in support of network and direct attached shared storage operations.Weekly rotation and once every 5 weeks on call pager 24x7 support Will work with 4 other SAN Engineers Mostly SAN Engineering and some Operations support (Linux Server Admin)BenefitsSalary range $87-95K + bonus based on performance up to 10% Full benefits, medical, dental, vision 401K 100%match 10 paid holidays 3 weeks vacation first year once converted to permanent Contact: PLEASE E-MAIL RESUMES TO: Apply by Email
