Tech Service - Process - Impact Engineer needed

Overall a combination of Process Development and in-house Tech Service to the chemical plants and customers.  Will provide technical leadership to research and development activities.  These activities will be aimed at both supporting in-plant operations and assisting customers.  Job responsibilities include the development of new processing techniques, planning and executing tests on the bench scale, pilot scale and plant level, and initiating capital requests for plant improvements or new processes.  The minimum requirements are a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (prefer Chemical) with at least 10 years of experience in the chemical, fertilizer and/or mineral processing industries, including production and process engineering. Supervisory experience is desirable.

Summary of Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and/or develop systems, products, or processes for a variety of assigned projects. Key functional activities include the following:  * Provide technical service for the various operating areas on site, which may include both short-term firefighting and long-term research.  * Investigate process problems and find solutions.  * Supply technical support to customers and conduct investigations into customer complaints. * Assist with customer visits to the plant site.  * Provide technical service for the corporate sales group. * Find ways to improve product quality and develop cost savings ideas with no detrimental effects to the environment. * Conduct testing of company products at customer plant sites. * Plan, supervise, run, and interpret results of bench scale, pilot plant, and operating plant tests. * Track daily production and product quality; collect data and review statistically.  * Ability to work independently, schedule and supervise technicians for internal data acquisition, and provide oversight and guidance to consultants used to enhance effort on the various projects.

Qualifications Required:  * Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience in the chemical industry. Advanced degrees are acceptable partial alternatives to industrial experience. * Supervisory experience is desirable.  * Excellent written and oral communication skills.  * Familiarity with computers, word processors, and spreadsheets.  * Thorough knowledge of unit operations, engineering economics, and statistics, as well as a basic familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.  * Problem solving and analytical skills. * Experience in mineral processing, distillation operations, process design, construction, maintenance, and supervision is helpful.  * Must be able to balance conflicting priorities.  * Communication and human relations skills in order to meet job objectives.
