U.S. Master Production Scheduler

DSM has annual sales of around Euro 8 billion and employs in excess of 22,000 people worldwide.  DSM NeoResins+ ambition is to become the globally recognized leader in specialty resins for use in Coatings, Adhesives and Graphic Arts.  DNR+ U.S. Headquarters is in Wilmington, MA and has U.S. Production sites in Wilmington, MA and Frankfort, IN. DNR+ global headquarters is in Waalwijk, The Netherlands and has other production sites in Waalwijk, Parets (Spain), Hoek van Holland (The Netherlands), Meppen (Germany) and China.

 

Aggressive growth plans will lead to increased production at our current sites, introduction of more new products, and acquisitions.  We are looking for an experienced:

 

U.S. Master Production Scheduler (MPS) – based in Wilmington, MA

 

The Challenge:

Currently, DNR+ has two production sites in the U.S. – Wilmington, MA and Frankfort, IN.  In this setting you will be responsible for an optimal planning of the North American manufacturing sites for meeting the demand requirements of our business. You will act as the link between various teams like: the Commercial Team, Demand Team, Customer Service Group, Manufacturing, and Purchasing.  Additionally, you will be a key participant on a team of regional MPSers: Europe, Asia, and U.S. that will provide a global overview to the business and input into DNR’s robust S&OP Process.  You will help prepare long term capacity planning and resulting business cases (investment, resources, etc.) to ensure Supply and Demand are in balance.  You should be capable of balancing conflicting interests and continuously keep an overview. You should be transparent to all parties and persuasive on the basis of your expertise and personality. You will be leading a locally based (virtual) team of detailed and operation production schedulers through this challenging growth process. Finally, you should stimulate safe and environmentally friendly practices throughout our organisation. In this position you will report to the U.S. Supply Chain Manager.

 

The Profile:

You are an experienced professional with an academic or bachelor’s qualification in demand and supply chain management (preferably certified APICS). You have experience with SAP R3 and specifically with Advanced Planning Systems (APO).  You should have the ambition to lead a professional and (virtual) team through a challenging growth process. You will be expected to drive continuous improvements in our planning competencies and our business model.  You are an excellent communicator, flexible to operate in a dynamic and international business environment, analytically strong, accurate and process minded. You should be ready to immediately contribute.

 

Further detail of primary responsibilities:

· Produce and agree the U.S. Manufacturing Sites production plans, for a 24 month horizon, as input to the Sales & Operations Plan for DNR+.

· Ensure balance between Supply and Demand and highlighting issues for resolution.

· Prepare monthly Supply Papers for review at DNR+ U.S. Supply Team as key input into S&OP Process.

· Create and maintain valid master schedules for materials and capacities, as input for the Detailed Production Process, by effectively balancing supply and demand for products produced at DNR+ U.S. manufacturing locations.  This includes the timely call off of PFR products and Toll Manufactured products.

· To act as a “Key user” for the support and development of DNR+ SAP R3 and APO Software

· To lead, develop, and train a team of Planners – handling shorter term issues – 0 to 12 weeks.

· Measure and report key Supply Chain Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

· Run what-of scenarios (simulations) in APO to determine impact of certain proposals.

· Provide input into longer term planning – five years – and applicable business cases to ensure that capacity will be available to meet demand.

· Set policies for Supply Planning and Inventory Planning – including Safety Stock Levels.

· Work closely with Demand Managers, Customer Service, and Commercial Teams to understand and respond to demand information and business strategy.

· Ensure Supply Chain Planning best practices identified and implemented.

· Develop initiatives for continuous improvement/waste reduction in the planning process through simplification of activities and velocity increase.

· Challenge current manufacturing strategies to be sure that the best and most customer oriented strategy is being used.  Look for ways towards a make-to-order environment.

· Make sure integrity of all planning data in ERP is maintained
