Job Description



SUMMARY

Conducts research and development, develops processing techniques, and directs technical work concerned with manufacture of porcelain tile products by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Directs testing of physical and chemical properties of raw materials.

 

Analyzes results of test to determine combinations of materials which will improve quality of products.

 

Conducts research into methods of processing, forming, and firing of raw materials to develop new ceramic products such as ceramic tile; this includes testing new glazes, screen pastes, fumes,etc. to give the desired aesthetic appeal specified by marketing.

 

Designs equipment and apparatus for forming, firing, and handling products.

 

Coordinates testing activities of finished products for characteristics such as texture, color, durability, glazing, and refractory properties.

 

Adhere to all safety regulations, complete all safety training and wear all safety equipment per related safety SOP.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
