Footwear Buyer

Summary Currently seeking a footwear buyer that has experience in the wholesale or retail industry.The footwear buyer/coordinator position is responsible for the continued development and implementation of programs for the footwear category. Successful candidates will guide overall planning and coordinate all aspects of business development. Seeking a dynamic professional with excellent communication, negotiating and organizational skills to lead the growth of our business. It is essential that individuals have a thorough understanding of the footwear category so footwear experience is essential. This position is required to manage both existing and future footwear business opportunities that will keep our member retailers on a competitive edge. Duties will include working with an extensive range of suppliers and independent retail stores and will require leadership, creativity, negotiation skills, business savvy, interpersonal skills and problem solving. The Buyer/Coordinators work closely with other departments within the company. Primary Responsibilities Creating, building and maintaining relationships with independent retail owners and buyers Develop opportunities to increase business with vendors in accordance with member needs Keep abreast of market trends and seek out new growth opportunities in the industry Conduct extensive negotiations with vendors Service member stores by providing information, identifying opportunities and anticipating and responding to store needs Travel to national trade shows and markets Position Requirements Strong leadership, communication, detail and organizational skills Retail management or wholesale experience in the footwear industry is required Competency in developing strategies and executing plans for new and existing business Proficiency in large group presentations Problem solving and follow-up skills are a must Ability to work independently as well as being able to work as part of a team Energetic self starter with the ability to manage and complete multiple projects.
