3rd Shift Main Console Operator/Help desk

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

· Monitors and operates large IBM mainframes and alternate platforms by interacting via consoles.

· Monitors and tracks production batch processing to ensure that service level objectives are met by following documented procedures.

· Identifies, resolves or refers problems for all systems hardware, software and online applications to appropriate support groups.

· Enters and updates problems in the appropriate on-line problem management system.

· Refers problems that cannot be resolved through standard operating procedures to the appropriate support group for resolution.

· Performs follow-up by searching for open problems in the problem management system to ensure that problems are resolved and customers are notified to meet goal/resolution expectations.

· Reports problems to Data Center Management per documented escalation procedures.

· Creates and updates operations documentation.

· Implements schedule changes to hardware and software systems per provided instructions.

· Participates in special projects to improve quality and reduce the cost of Data Center services.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

· 2 years experience operating a large IBM mainframe utilizing z/OS and JES2

· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

· Ability to document procedures as demonstrated by previous experience

· Ability to work a Monday through Saturday schedule with a rotating day off

· Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays

 

 

POSITION PREFERENCES:

 

· Experience with UNIX systems

· Knowledge of CA7
