As the metro market leader in both SONET and ROADM technology, the fundamental building blocks of next-generation networks, Fujitsu is helping customers take networking beyond convergence. Fujitsu Network Communications, a leader in SONET Transport and Access Systems is seeking an ASIC Design Engineer within the Engineering organization for its Richardson, Texas facility. This position is a design position.  The job entails working with system requirements and developing ASIC/FPGA architectures to meet those requirements.  The ASIC/FPGA architecture will be further defined hierarchical module requirements to drive the RTL coding phase.  The application area is for data over SONET or Optical Packet networks.  Knowledge of packet processing functions such as policing, scheduling, QoS, and traffic management. Applications knowledge of Ethernet, RPR, Fibre Channel, and Pseudo Wire standards would be a plus.

Experience/knowledge:Good working knowledge of ASIC/FPGA process and flow including architecture, requirements capture, RTL coding, synthesis, and verification. Previous experience working with hardware, software, and product planning organizations to extract requirements for data protocols over SONET. Working knowledge of Ethernet, Fibre Channel, or RPR protocols is highly desirable. Experienced in high quality process flows to produce first time successful results. Minimum 4 years experience
