 ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION

 TITLE: Application Developer (Job# 9162)

SALARY:  Up to $45,000 depending upon experience and training.  This is a non-bargaining position with the City of Springfield benefits.

 

FUNDING SOURCE: General Fund

 

WORK SCHEDULE:  37.5 hours per week – 52 weeks per year including paid vacation time

 

  Reports to the Director of Information Systems

OVERVIEW:

 

This individual is responsible for developing, deploying, supporting and documenting the applications of the Springfield Public Schools.  The candidate will possess a strong background in computer programming and will be expected to provide solid solutions to the application development projects of the Distrct.

 

DUTIES:Develop new applications and application components.Enhance and maintain existing applications.Documentation of new and existing systems, procedures, and processes.Develop procedures for effectively supporting in-house and vendor-deployed systems.Assist our project management office in the process of specification generation.Provide support to other internal Information Technology groups as necessary.Any other duties necessary for the successfully implementing and supporting the Information Systems of the Springfield Public Schools as assigned by the Director of Information Systems or the Chief Information Officer.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field REQUIRED.  Must be team oriented while capable of working independently.Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.Experience in object oriented programming and design using any of the following:  MS Visual Basic, C++, C#, Java, Ruby.Familiarity with ASP & .NET technologies.Understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systemsExperience designing web based applications.Understanding of data access and update techniques, methods and structures.Dedicated to meeting project-related commitments on time.Ability to create and maintain positive, productive working relationships with both technical and non-technical personnel. Open to new technologies and eager to learn.
